This year is the first time I missed Lotusphere 2013/IBM Connect 2013 since 2003. Unfortunately, a number of family things takes higher priority. However, this has given me the opportunity to upgrade our servers and also install Domino 9 beta for testing. Domino 9 I see is an important step towards our new release of our iPhora Framework. I have been using Domino 8.51 with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS for awhile. However, each time I attempted to install Domino 8.53 on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS the start up script would have problems. Since Ubuntu 12.04-1 LTS is now available, my goal was to see if I can use Upstart that was mentioned by Stephen Wissel Upstart to run the start up script. Unfortunately, after many tries, I was not able to get the start up script working. I need to research Upstart more. So I went back to the Daniel Nashed's start script which I was having problems with on 10.04 LTS and Domino 8.53. I happy to say that Daniel's start up script worked very well with Ubun...

Planning MWLUG 2013 has been a chore.  We could not get a hotel in Indianapolis Downtown for our original dates of August 14 through 16, 2013.  GENCON is going on.  However, we were able to get a new date and location for MWLUG 2013.  We are happy to announce that MWLUG 2013 will be held at the historic Crowne Plaza Downtown - Union Station in the heart of downtown Indianapolis , August 21-23, 2013. This hotel was originally the first Union Station in the United States and is a beautiful hotel similar to the William Penn Hotel that we were in last year, but in some way more grandeur.  The Crowne Plaza is currently being renovated so it will be exciting to see how it looks. We have obtained special rates for MWLUG attendees which we will be announcing. MWLUG 2012 was held last week at the Omni William Penn Hotel.  It was the most attended MWLUG so far.  Hopefully, next year in Indianapolis we will exceed this year's attendance.  We as IBM professionals talk about Social Business and Social Collaboration, but it is venues like MWLUG and other LUGs where the true sense of social occurs.  It is friends and colleagues meeting together for a common focus.  Even competitors at MWLUG were meeting together and having lunch.  It is all about us humans as a social beings.  Making some like MWLUG possible requires the efforts of many within our community including IBM Partners, Customers, and IBMers plus volunteers and others.  I would like to take the time to list all those who were involved, some were in the background and did not attend MWLUG 2012.  I just hope I did not miss anyone.  Special thanks to 4C Technologies and Sherpa Software: MWLUG Committee Richard Moy, Gregg Eldred, Barb Sked...
